Aran - Tweedy Lamb's Wool

Pure organic wool – in 100g skeins and 500g cones -- from our cross-bred lambs, farmed especially for the quality and colour of their fleece. We have blended white and coloured fleeces, added some hand-dyed nepps, to create two unique, subtley tweedy yarns:

•     Speckle - a mid-grey yarn, with occasional flecks of blue, green and deep pink
•     Spice - a warm brown natural brown, flecked with reds, yellows and occasional green.

Our wool is certified organic: that means the highest animal welfare standards for the lambs and most environmentally sensitive systems of wool processing for the yarns.

Handle and use: a semi-soft, woollen-spun yarn suitable for all traditional wool crafts, from knitting to crocheting to weaving.

Tension: as a guide, we use 5mm / UK6 / US8 needles to give a 4 inch/10 cm square of 18 stitches and 26 rows.

Quantities: available in skeins of 100g / 100y / 92m; also on 500g cones, at a discount of 15%. (Wool on the cone is lightly oiled, from spinning, and will wash off when you block your finished work.)

Care: hand wash by soaking in warm water with a gentle detergent, agitate as little as possible, rinse in cool water, squeeze and allow to drip until damp, then reshape and leave to air dry flat.
