Pure organic wool – in 100g skeins and 500g cones (oiled) -- from our mixed flock of black and white sheep, bred especially for the quality and colour of their fleece.
The colours are entirely natural - no dyes involved, just different blends of white and coloured fleece. The resulting yarns are available in ecru (sheep-white), silver, graphite, charcoal and a marl.
The wool is certified organic: that means the highest animal welfare standards on farm and the most environmentally sensitive systems of wool processing - and audited, annually, by the Soil Association to Red Tractor and Global Organic Textile Standards.
Handle and use: our fleece is spun in Cornwall to a semi-soft, woollen spun yarn suitable for all kinds of traditional wool crafts, from knitting to crocheting to weaving.
Tension: as a guide, I use a 5mm/US 6 needles to get a 4 inch/10 cm square of 22 stitches by 28 rows.
Quantities: this yarn is available in skeins of 100g / 218y / 200m. It is also available in 500g amounts, on the cone at a discount of 15%. (Wool on the cone is lightly oiled, from the spinning process, and will wash off when you block your finished work.)
Care: hand wash by soaking in warm water with a gentle detergent, agitate as little as possible, rinse in cool water, squeeze and allow to drip until damp, then reshape and leave to air dry flat.
